News Release: Herbalife Nutrition

Herbalife Nutrition At Work Survey Reveals Filipino Millennials Desire Healthy, Active Workplace Environment

While the survey conducted reveals that more Filipino millennials are engaging in regular physical activities outside work, they find it difficult to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle in the modern workplace.

PHILIPPINES, October 27, 2016 – Herbalife Nutrition, a global nutrition company, has released the findings from its Asia Pacific Millennials At Work Survey1, which revealed that Filipino millennials are adapting a healthy, active lifestyle, however, most believe their current workplace environment prevents them from doing so.

Millennials, or people born in between 1980 and 2000, are opting for a workplace that will encourage them to stay active, if only this will be embedded in every company culture.  About 83 percent or eight (8) in 10 millennials have agreed that they would like their company workplace to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle.

With the millennial generation expected to make up 50 percent of the global workforce by 2020, ensuring the wellbeing of millennials will be important to improving workplace productivity. “There are about 35 million millennials now in the Philippines, which is about one-third of the country’s entire population. Five years from now, millennials will be dominating the labor force. While most millennials want to lead healthy lives, they face real obstacles at work in doing so,”
said Rosalio Valenzuela, Herbalife Philippines General Manager. “At Herbalife Nutrition, we provide our employees with nutrition products at work, subsidize gym memberships, hold regular wellness programs related to nutrition and well-being, and encourage participation in outdoor activities and sports competitions.”

Additionally, the survey findings revealed the following:
Seven (7) out of 10 millennials strive to live healthy, active lives
However, the majority of millennials find it challenging to maintain an active lifestyle at work – eight (8) out of 10 millennials spend 6 to 13 hours at their work desk each day, and 64% of millennials get less than 30 minutes of physical activity - including standing, stretching and walking at work on an average work day.
Additionally, 64% of millennials cited the “lack of time” as the key obstacle to engaging in physical activity at work.

To provide tips on how millennials and their employers can integrate positive nutrition and life style habits at their workplaces, Herbalife Nutrition has organized a sixth Asia Pacific Wellness Tour, which builds upon the successes of the past five tours that welcomed over 100, 000  participants. Five experts from the Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board (NAB) are scheduled to tour 21 Asian cities from October 7 to 30, to hold a series of talks, workshops and medical symposia across the region.

“Through these efforts, we hope to equip organizations and employees with the right tools to collectively build a healthier work environment across Asia Pacific,” said Valenzuela.

Julian Alvarez Garcia, M.D., Ph.D., a member of the Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board, will be visiting Manila for the Asia Pacific Wellness Tour this October. Julian Alvarez Garcia, M.D., Ph.D. will also be sharing expert advice on how millennials can adopt simple positive nutrition and lifestyle habits at work to improve their overall well-being in the long run.

Some of the tips to help foster a healthier millennial workforce include:

Nutrition

o Dedicate a healthy eating day each week and get colleagues involved in making healthy choices for lunch on this day.
o Boost water intake to help the body digest food, rid the body of toxins, and help deliver nutrients to the cells. Drink at least eight (8) glasses or two (2) liters of water a day.
o Have a protein shake combined with non-fat milk and healthy fruit for breakfast. With 20-30 grams of protein and low-fat contents, it can provide the body with all the nutrition it needs to power through the day.

Active Living

o Create a playlist that incorporates upbeat music and play with hourly intervals.
o Use Running Apps to keep energized and on-pace during regular runs.
o Set a goal to join running competitions to motivate self to sustain an active lifestyle.

1Herbalife’s Millennials At Work Survey was conducted in 2016, with 5,500 respondents aged 18 and above, from Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Kathryn and Liza’s Kitchen Best friend

The kitchen used to be a scary place for young people and cooking was a daunting task reserved for mothers and household helps. But technology played a role in guiding people around the kitchen. Nowadays, new cooks search online for cooking videos or check out “food hacks” to be able to produce any dish they want that they can, in turn, show off on social media.

Young celebrities Kathryn Bernardott and Liza Soberano also enjoy cooking for their loved ones. They are the newest tandem to endorse AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning. Apart from what can be found in the Internet, Kathryn and Liza became more confident cooks because they can rely on a brand of seasoning to make delicious home-cooked dishes by bringing out the natural goodness of food. Experienced cooks or kitchen newbies can make AJI-NO-MOTO® their best friend in the kitchen – an ally in serving nourishing and enjoyable dishes for the whole family.

The new AJI-NO-MOTO® TV Commercial features three (3) dishes to show the versatility of the product in making all kinds of dishes delicious. Among the dishes are the Omurice, a Japanese-inspired meal composed of rice and omelet, Kathryn’s Adobong Puti recipe, a different take on the classic adobo without soy sauce and the all-time favorite comfort food Beef Nilaga.

AJI-NO-MOTO® can be widely used in a variety of dishes because it has no smell or specific flavor of its own and can therefore be used to enhance the original flavor of food. This is a safe and quality product that is made from natural crops like sugar cane, corn or cassava and manufactured through the natural process of fermentation. AJI-NO-MOTO® enhances taste of food by providing umami taste. Umami is the fifth basic taste also described as rich, savory and ‘malinamnam’ derived from food rich in glutamate like tomatoes, cheese, mushrooms, ham and seafood.

Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation (APC) is an affiliate of Tokyo-based Ajinomoto Co., Inc. Established in 1958, APC lives by its promise to provide consumers products that will always give the delicious taste to healthy and nutritious meals as embodied in APC’s slogan Ajinomoto® “Eat Well, Live Well.®” APC’s complete line of quality food and seasoning products are produced by international affiliates and local toll manufacturers using Ajinomoto’s license, quality standards and technological expertise.

APC’s products include AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning, Ajinomoto® Brand Ginisa Flavor Seasoning Mix, AJI-SINIGANG® Cube, Ajinomoto® Brand Chicken Powder, PORKSAVOR® All-in-One Seasoning Mix, CRISPY FRY® Breading Mix, CRISPY FRY® SEASONED CRUMBS®, TASTY BOY® All Purpose Breading Mix, AJI-SHIO® Seasoning Mix and “amino Fres-C” Instant Drink Mix.

The sad part of being a Mom :(

Ever since the day I became a Mom, I suddenly became over protective, vulnerable when it comes      to my children and most of all emotional when I talk about them. Being a Mom made big changes in me that I instantly embraced. People around me would often say that I always over react when it comes to my children, but my Children are my Treasure I wanna make sure they are always safe and that they always get the best but sometimes even if you've done everything you can to protect them there will be cases where they will get sick or the least thing a Mommy would want to happen to her child to be confined in the hospital.

Last Monday morning we brought Kael to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital because he had on and off fever and he was having a hard time with his cough.

I was hoping that we will be sent home after the check up but the Pediatrician said he needs to be nebulized for 3 times to see if his panting will get better, but sadly even after he was nebulized Kael remained panting so the Pediatrician ordered that kael be admitted to make sure her gets proper medication. As I heard the Pediatrician said "for admission" my heart cried out!!! I just cant accept the fact that because of a simple cough kael will be admitted. I felt bad so bad that I have so much "kung sana" in my mind.

            * Kung sana dinala ko na sya sa E.r ng sunday evening hindi na sana sya naconfine.
            * Kung sana dinala ko sya sa ibang pedia clinic kasi his pedia is on leave sana mas                        maaga syang gumaling.
            * Kung sana hindi ko pinag walang bahala yung pg ubo ubo nya hindi na sana                              dumating sa ganto, sabi ko kasi masigla naman si kael at malakas magdede so I was                  thinking he will be better.
                           and lastly
            * Kung sana mas naging mas maalaga, mas responsable at mas naging magaling akong                Mommy hindi na sana humantong sa confinement yung simpleng ubo ni kael.

Sadly, I lose track. I have always been very precocious whenever kyla, niela or kael have cough. I usually bring them to their pedia asap to make sure they will be treated the soonest but this time was different and it makes me sad but as a mom I need to be strong for my kids. We were admitted roughly 11 am and after series of laboratories and tests we were transferred to our room.

Our room for 4 days! :)

Our 1st day in the hospital seems to be the longest. Kael's oxygen level was being measured by pulse oximeter a device that shows his oxygen level. The Doctor said it should be no less than 95% to 100% and if it will be lower than that he would need help from the oxygen device beside his bed. It was a good thing that it does not drop often. The next days were better! Kael was no longer panting and hindi na madalas ang pag-ubo nya. The doctor said we can go home by friday but we were wishing it could be earlier but the doctor said we need to allow the antibiotics to take effect to make sure we Kael will be better.

I only felt better when the Doctor said his lungs are doing better and soon it was cleared. YAY!! Last thursday our Pediatrician ordered that the IV be removed after being consumed!

Little Mr. Pogi!
Ayun! Mas nakahinga kami ni didi ng maluwag kasi ibig sabihin nun malapit na talaga kaming umuwi! :) Friday morning our pedia finally sent us home. Ayun nagmamadali kaming nag ayos ng bill at philhealth documents para makauwi kagad! We were finally home at roughly 2pm. Everyone was very happy to see Kael! Namiss nila ang buknoy ng bahay. We slept lang almost the whole day. Kahit kasi maganda kwarto sa ospital at malamig hindi pa din masarap matulog dun!! LOL.

Thank You Lord for healing Kael! Thank you for hearing our prayers!

Thank you Papa and  Mama for always sending us food and for taking good care of Kyla and Niela      while we were away.

Thank you dai ui Ana for helping me the whole 1st day we were in the hospital and for sleeping          with niela and for taking good care of her. Ikaw na talaga! Mwah!

Thank you to everyone who visited us and who prayed for Kael's Fast recovery! God bless us all!

Thank you Dra. Pal for making sure Kael gets treated the best way!

Kudos to Nurse Sherwin of Pedia E.R for being patient with us and for making sure he got the perfect vein to insert Kael's IV. :)

Thank you to our kind and patient nurses from the St. Arnold section of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital! Thank you Nurse Kevin and Nurse Gary for always making sure Kael's is doing good and that he is always comfortable, You two are truly amazing! God Bless you both!

A Mommy advice to everyone who reads my blog. It is always best to be safe than be sorry. Prevention is better than cure, Always and always be precocious of your child's condition ke simpleng lagnat, ubo or sipon wag ipag walang bahala. Make sure to always bring them to their pediatrician to make sure they will get the medication they need.
Thank you for reading my blog!
HAPPY SATURDAY!

Please do not forget like my FB page mom @ 16
Thank you and God Bless!

Press Release: Science Circus is Mind Museum's Newest attraction!

Do you have a future genius son or daughter? I guess it is best that you bring them here!!

Science Circus: Step Right Up! is the latest traveling exhibition of The Mind Museum. showcasing the amusing, the peculiar, and the extraordinary in our everyday
experiences, in the form of interactive exhibits that deceive the senses and boggle the mind.  Be ready to#EnterTheScienceCircus is coming October 28, 2016!

While the nearly 250-year history of the circus abounds with awe-inspiring demonstrations of physical skill- such as high- flying aerial artists, to death-defying daredevils – the Science Circus challenges our traditional notions of a circus by focusing on the mind’s “acrobatic” perceptual tricks.

As the guests enter the exhibition, they are welcomed by a festive, colorful facade which sets the tone for the sights and sounds they are about to experience. These interactive exhibits are displayed simultaneously in three adjacent Rings. Guests can go in any of the Rings in the order they please.

Ring One, or Deception Perception is a menagerie of exhibits that will prompt you to question whether to see is to believe. Can you always trust your senses? Is what you see as real as it seems? Can your brain produce motion where there is none? Your first venture into the Circus will unveil the “blindness” of your mind’s eye.

Ring Two highlights Pieces of Incredible Engineering, where guests can engage their minds in puzzles and relish how math and art come together. This central area is animated by simple machines, and engages guests in activities that evoke their inner engineer.

Last but not the least, Ring Three is Encounters with the Masters, where guests can interact with and learn the secrets of the Masters of Illusion. They can take on the challenges posed by each Master, and discover how our brains can be ensnared by smoke and mirrors.

The Science Circus: Step Right Up! exhibition vividly illustrates how our everyday experiences are full of delightful secrets that we can uncover, to discover more about ourselves and the world around us.
